When it comes to sliding around the Otterbox Defender and Defender Pro will basically stay in one place whereas the Otterbox Pursuit will slide around a little easier than we would like. This is odd because the old Otterbox Pursuit has only one side that slides around an air hockey puck. When it comes to general wear and tear, both Otterbox Defender and Defender Pro will suffer through drops better as the PC on the Otterbox Pursuit will scuff up a bit. However, on a long term, we know from experience that the TPU sleeve on the older Otterbox Defender and Defender Pro would stretch out over time.

However, be mindful that the downside of having lots of texture is that you might pull out the linings of your pocket. The Otterbox Pursuit has TPU along the edges of the case which helps with the handling and the PC back is a little easier to deal with in your pockets.

Between the Otterbox Defender and Defender Pro, the biggest obvious difference in texture is the removal of the Apple cutout on the Otterbox Defender Pro. According to Otterbox, this feature is going to kill off common germs. It seems like everything our bodies try to get rid of ends up on our devices so having a feature that kills off these germs would be smart. For the Otterbox Defender and Defender Pro, our biggest complaint was the screen protectors.

In general, the buttons on the iPhone can be accessed through the Otterbox Defender, Defender Pro and Pursuit without much hassle. For all three cases, the button access has gotten better between the older versions of the cases and the newer ones. On the original Otterbox Pursuit, using the buttons was difficult because of the design.

The newer Otterbox Pursuit allows for better access. The old Otterbox Pursuit had an incredibly frustrating tiny switch. The lighting port on the Otterbox Pursuit is covered and the cover fits surprisingly well. On the Otterbox Defender, there are flaps that cover the mute and ports and those flaps literally flap.

The belt holster is handy for those with tight jeans and can function as a stand as well. The combination makes it seem like the Otterbox cases provide above average drop protection. Actually, the logo really signifies that the case will offer an undisclosed amount of drop protection and a bunch of other things that Otterbox protects against like Purell.

Based on our drop test, your iPhone is going to be able to take anything you throw at it on a day to day basis. Just remember to get screen protector for your case. We will add that the Otterbox Defender Pro is going to be a tougher than the regular Otterbox Defender. By how much? We have no idea. However Otterbox Pursuit is going to be tougher than the Symmetry, Traction and Strada and defiantly tougher than the average iPhone case.
